2011 Tesla Electric Sports Cars Roadster 2.5

2011 Tesla Electric Sports Cars Roadster 2.5
Tesla launched the new Roadster this week and is delivering to customers now. More than 1,200 current Tesla owners in at least 23 countries have logged over five million electric miles in their Roadsters. CHICHESTER, UK — Tesla Motors (TSLA) will unveil its next-generation sports car to the public this weekend at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The latest version of revolutionary electric sports car, Tesla Roadster 2.5.
‘Goodwood is one of the most beloved motoring events in the world and a highlight of the English summer – so it’s only appropriate that this iconic celebration will be the public launch of the latest Roadster,’ said Cristiano Carlutti, Tesla’s Vice President of European Operations.
The Festival of Speed is the world's largest motoring garden party - a unique weekend that brings together a heady mix of cars, stars and motor sport 'royalty' to create the largest car culture festival worldwide. Held in the immaculate grounds of Goodwood House, this annual hill-climb extravaganza celebrates all things automotive.
Its two newest Tesla Stores–in Newport Beach, California, and Copenhagen, Denmark–will open with evening receptions. Both will have the Roadster 2.5 on display. The 2011 Tesla Roadster 2.5 features improvements in design and technology, including a new front fascia, rear diffuser, improved seat comfort, sound dampening and an optional large touch screen navigation system with back-up camera.
Inside, the most significant alteration is undoubtedly more comfortable seats, which have larger bolsters and now include a lumbar support system. Interior noise has been reduced in several ways, including new sound-suppressing front fender liners.
Finally, Tesla has further modified the Roadster’s power-control system, adding unspecified hardware to permit “spirited driving” (which we presume means maximum electric power) in exceptionally hot climates.
Prospective customers can see the Tesla Roadster 2.5 at Goodwood or at the London showroom at 49-51 Cheval Place in Knightsbridge, near Harrod’s. Tesla is now delivering this latest version of the car in all Tesla markets in Europe, Asia and North America.

Sasha calls himself 'the angry car designer' for some reason, and has no time for fools. A pure conceptual study for a top-end Ferrari, possibly a future generation of the 612 Scaglietti, Selipanov design proposal appears to borrow bits and pieces from certain supercars like the Aston Martin One-77 as well as Maranello’s own 458 Italia.
The Ferrari 612 GTO concept is the work of Sasha Selipanov, an extremely talented, and also incredibly irate, automotive designer based in Berlin, Germany.
The 612 GTO concept is a proposal for the next generation 612 Scaglietti, but with a high-performance GTO twist and completely revised aesthetics. Sasha calls himself 'the angry car designer' for some reason, and has no time for fools.
For the 612 GTO concept Sasha has used influences from the classic Ferrari 250 GTO - which is evident in the triple air intakes molded into the hood.

Bugatti Sports Cars Type 12-2 Concept Car

Bugatti Sports Cars Type 12-2 Concept Car
Here is a Bugatti Concept CarBugatti Type 12-2. Racer X has lifted the covers on a new concept vehicle they are calling the Bugatti Type 12-2 concept car which is highlighted by ample storage space and new practical designs. Bugatti is a most famous sports car manufacture, so it is just about power, speed, luxury and everything, designed especially for those who love speed, comfort and style.

Bugatti Type 12-2 concept has been created as a 2+2 sports GT for the Bugatti brand. it is not intended for production. Designed as an example of a luxurious four seater GT, the type 12-2 is the artwork of Reuben Zammit.

The idea is to use a VW derived W12 engine with a twin turbo layout hence the name 12-2. Although not as extravagant as the W16 used in the Veyron, there would be enough power to propel the Type 12-2 to over 200 mph. Every time it competed with 4 different demo cars in 2 different classes for bodystyling.

On the subject of performance, things get considerably more hypothetical. This being purely a design study (and not even a Bugatti-commissioned one) any power-train speculation should be taken with more than a few grains of salt. Racer X's specified FR configuration seems to eliminate the Veyron's all-wheel drive, quad-turbo W-16 configuration. Meanwhile, the name "12-2" seems to hint at a 12-cylinder mill sleeping beneath the coupe's hood.

2011 Ferrari Sports Cars 458 Challenge 4497 cc V8 Engine

2011 Ferrari Sports Cars 458 Challenge
Coming just a few months after the 2010 Frankfurt Motor Show unveiling of the Ferrari 458 Italia on which it is based, the Ferrari 458 Challenge introduces a number of important modifications to adapt it for competition use. Ferrari 458 was presented the 2010 Frankfurt Motor Show. Lately, the Ferrari 458 Challenge has made its world premiere debut in Maranello during the Annual Dealer Meeting.
With the new 458 Challenge, Ferrari is offering its sportier clients - professional and gentlemen drivers alike - a car that is extremely responsive, with great performance and superb handling. This mid-rear V8-engined berlinetta will allow Ferrari Challenge participants to enjoy to the full the exhilarating cut and thrust of the race weekends on the world's leading circuits, as well as the passion that has always been an integral part of Ferrari's one-make championship.
The Ferrari 458 Challenge introduces a number of important modifications to adapt it for competition use. This car use the direct injection 4497 cc V8 remains strictly in production tune, with an output of 570 hp at 9,000 rpm. That said, modifications have been made to the gear ratios and calibration of its dual-clutch F1 gearbox to assure gamier torque at bluer revs. The Ferrari 458 dispute are as well equipt with the E-Diff electronic differential already employed on the road-going adaptation, a 1st for Ferrari’s track-only automobiles.
2011 Ferrari Sports Cars 458 Challenge
For a Ferrari Challenge model is the adoption of the F1-Trac traction control system, the most sophisticated of its kind. The F1-Trac system constantly monitors levels of grip for maximum high-performance road-holding. Two specific track-biased calibrations – wet and dry – have been developed for this application.
Important work has also come in abbreviating the auto angle. This centered both the exterior and interior with Ferrari’s engineers boiling down particularly about abbreviating the thickness of the bodyshell panels and on using lightweight cloths, such carbon-fibre and Lexan.

2010 Noble Supercar M600 The British Sports Cars

Here is a new supercar, aimed at the top of the market sector with sensational performance. And it comes from a company with an established record for fast fine-handling cars. That sums up the Noble M600. Noble has released the first images and details of its latest supercar, new M600 supercar. The M600 - built as a purist's car - features very little in the way of Ferrari-like computer control, with the main driver-assist system being a switchable traction control, deactivated via missile-launch-like switch labeled simply 'TC'. There is no ESP, and no anti-lock brakes.
Boasting generic supercar styling, the M600 is powered by a twin-turbo 4.4-liter Volvo V8. While it's odd hearing "Volvo" and "supercar" in the same sentence, the M600 is anything but Volvo-like. Packing 650 bhp, the car accelerates from 0-62 mph in 3.0 seconds, 0-100 mph in around 6.5 seconds, and tops out at 225 mph.
To keep things under control, the driver has a choice of three power levels. At the twist of a dial, outputs of 335kW, 410kW and 485kW are available. At the highest power setting, the M600 develops 820Nm of torque. A six-speed Graziano manual transmission is responsible for delivering power from the twin-turbocharged V8 to the rear wheels.
The M600 designer would like to defy these features of a modern car by turning off computer-assisted controls and the like. The design of M600 is focused on the more “analogue” quality of design that uses the principle of pure engineering integrity from building the chassis up to every tiny detail a car must have. A person who is driving this car definitely deserves to be called a driver in the real sense.
Featuring fixed-rate dampers and steering, along with Alcon brakes - with iron discs and limited servo assistance for increased feedback and ease of modulation - the M600 has been developed with an almost archaic sensibility.
It was established in 1999 by Lee Noble in Barwell, Leicestershire, for producing high-speed sports cars with a rear mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout. Lee Noble was the chief designer and owner of Noble. He sold the company in August 2006. He resigned from the company in February 2008 and announced his new venture, Fenix Automotive in 2009.
Deliveries to customers are expected mid 2010. With a retail price of GBP200,000 the cost is as mind blowing as its 225 mph top speed.

Akio Toyoda would love to do a new Supra, probably won’t happen

While some automakers are diversifying, others are consolidating. Like Peugeot, for example, which is preparing to replace both the 407 and 607 with an all-new 508. The big sedan is set to debut in a couple of months at the biennial Paris Motor Show, but after spy shots found their way to our desks a couple of weeks ago, this first batch of official-looking images have already leaked their way out and are circulating the interwebs as you read these words.

Previewed by the 5 by Peugeot concept at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show and based on sister-companyCitroën’s C5 sedan, the new 508 has appeared in both sedan and wagon formats. Full details will undoubtedly be released sometime in the next couple of months as the Paris salon approaches, but in the meantime Francophiles can check out the images in the gallery below for a closer look.

Pics Aplenty: Ferrari 599 GTO

The 599 GTO being the fastest road-going Ferrari ever to roll out of Maranello, you don’t stand much chance of seeing one sitting still. Of course, the limited run of 599 examples doesn’t help. But as if an excuse were needed, that does give us a reason to bring you the latest batch of high-resolution images showing the Prancing Goat in all its glory. You can check ‘em all out in the gallery below. That is, assuming you haven’t seen enough from theseemingly endless stream of videos that have circulated since the supercar’s debut. Yeah, we didn’t think so.

BMW M5 production comes to an end

Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda wants to see the next Supra tested in the near future.” But the reality of his company’s current circumstances means it’s unlikely to happen.

During a discussion with U.S. journalists on Friday in Japan, Toyoda was asked about the possibility of building a car like a Supra that would appeal to enthusiasts. As such a huge company, Toyoda said, even if one president says that we want to have a Supra again, the whole company is not going to be responding to that request.”

Toyoda explained that he did much of his development as a driver behind the wheel of a Supra and has fond memories of flinging that model around the Nürburgring. Speaking through an interpreter, Toyoda told the group that would like to create a car that is better than the Supra, and just for your information, I am not against this idea.”

However, this discussion came against the backdrop of a week where Toyota officials acknowledged that the company had grown too quickly in the past decade and would need slow down and re-prioritize. Between ensuring that upcoming models are trouble free, meeting new fuel and emissions requirement and delivering the FT-86 by 2013, a new Supra is likely to remain just a dream for the foreseeable future

Concept cars highlight Ford-only day of RM’s Monterey auction

If you were one of the 30 Bimmerphiles to snag a 2011 Frozen Gray M3 Coupe last month, expect to fill out another round of paperwork before you take delivery of your new matte gray baby.

BMW is apparently requiring all owners to sign a “maintenance agreement” that insists the M3 is never polished or waxed, ran through an automatic car wash or even strongly rubbed. Additionally, BMW politely asks that you immediately remove bugs, bird droppings, tree sap and fuel spills with a soft sponge, and naturally, dealers are more than willing to sell you appropriate products for maintaining the matte finish.

According to enthusiast site Bimmerfest, BMW explicitly states the M3′s warranty won’t cover any damage due to owner neglect and it notes that all exterior repairs must be performed by a BMW-authorized shop. What’s more, if you don’t sign the agreement, no Frozen Grey M3 for you. That’s a lot of disclaimers. All of which could be easily solved for less if you simply went down to your local custom vinyl shop and wrapped your (decidedly less expensive) standard M3 in a 3M coating. But how do you put a price on exclusivity?

BMW Frozen Gray M3 paint a pain, owners must sign agreement about its care?

The RM auction is always one of our favorite events during the Monterey classic car week, and this year’s looks to be one of the best yet. In fact, there are so many vehicles up for grabs that RM has scheduled an additional auction day featuring just Fords. Some historically-important vehicles will cross the block, including a 1903 Ford Model A and a 1962 Lincoln Continental used by John F. Kennedy.

Ford Motor Company itself will auction off some vehicles itself, including eighteen concept cars built from 2000 to 2004. Among the notable vehicles on the list are the 2001 Lightning Rod Concept, the 2001 Forty Nine Concept, the 2003 Supercharged Thunderbird Concept and the 2004 Lincoln Mark X Concept. Our favorite? The Mustang GT-R Concept that made its debut at the 2004 New York Auto Show. Ford will donate the proceeds of the sale to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and The Children’s Center.

You can read more about the Ford-only auction day in the press release after the jump, or head over to RM’s website to see a full list of vehicles up for sale

UAW picketing at Toyota dealers to start in CA and NY says King

The recently-crowned king of the United Auto Workers, President Bob King, has a monumental task before him: reverse the decades-long decline in UAW membership. To do that the UAW will likely need to make inroads at transplant automaker plants, and to accomplish this goal King promises to be more active in staging demonstrations than in the past, and an early target is Toyota and California. Automotive Newsreports that the UAW is organizing protests in front of several Toyota dealerships in the Golden State to draw attention to the recently closed NUMMI plant in Fremont, CA.

The facility, which was making the Toyota Corolla and Matrix until it was shuttered in April, was the only unionized facility producing Toyotas in North America. The closing of NUMMI, which happened in part because General Motors pulled out of its agreement with Toyota during its bankruptcy in 2009, left thousands of UAW workers without a job. Toyota has since sold the NUMMI facility to Tesla Motors, who will utilize only a portion of the plant and hire around 1,000 workers. Toyota did spring for a considerable severance packageof nearly $300 million for the laid-off workers when the plant closed.

Of course the group most upset about the upcoming protests is the American International Automobile Dealers Association. AIADA president Cody Lusk claims that the protests will only hurt small businesses that supply plenty of American jobs, adding
“An assault on America’s auto retail industry will only serve to highlight the disconnect between the UAW and reality.”

First Drive: 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T brings turbo power to Main Street, America

We’ve watched with a sense of awe as Hyundai has gone from a discount also-ran brand into a genuine industry powerhouse in startlingly short order. But we’ve also long suspected that its vehicles have gained so much ground by being among the best values in their respective segments – not because they’ve necessarily been the best vehicles to drive. The addition of the Genesis Coupe may have served notice that Hyundai isn’t content to just be the industry’s value leader (see Battle of the Sixes), but the keystone draw of most of the brand’s offerings has remained their affordability. Which is not to suggest this is a bad thing – Hyundai’s steroidal growth speaks to the inherent soundness of its strategy. But as enthusiasts, we’ve been waiting for the company to not only out-value, but to categorically outsmart and outplay its rivals. With introduction of the 2011 Sonata, Hyundai appears to have done exactly that.

We admit that we weren’t sure whether the Sonata’s outré styling would play in that most milquetoast of markets: the family sedan segment. When the sheet was pulled on the 2011 model, it was as if Hyundai had strolled into a Sunday morning prayer breakfast with Kathy Griffin on its arm – we didn’t know exactly what was going to come of it, but we knew it was going to be fun to watch. Thankfully, the Sonata has proven to be far more than just a styling stunt. Packing big space, a rock-solid chassis, accomplished handling and unmatched power and fuel economy from its 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, the Sonata has gained widespread acceptance and acclaim in a historically conservative slice of the market.
